"Canteen Cup" for Nalgene-Style Bottles?
« on: December 24, 2008, 03:58:18 PM »
Hello, friends and Merry Christmas!

I'm diligently working on my GHB and BOB and need to get a basic metal container for boiling enough water for drinking, broth, basic cooking, etc.

My past life taught me to love the trusty canteen cup.  My foray into civilian life has me now dragging around Nalgene-style bottles.  Almost every bag I own has a holder for these bottles too.

So... ...is there a Nalgene-style bottle equivalent for the canteen cup?  In other words, is there a metal cup that fits around the standard 1qt Nalgene bottle?  Much love for links to examples/vendors!

Thanks and, again, Merry Christmas!

A friend sent me the answer to this one so I get to appear to answer my own question.  The item I seek is the Olicamp Space Saver Cup.  I found them at http://www.campsaver.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=330441 .  There's 10% cashback if you use Live.com's cashback deal thing!

Ordered me a couple.  I'll do a review here once I give them a whirl!  Considering that I pack my First Aid/Survival Kits in a 1 qt. Nalgene, these should be perfect for rounding out the functionality!

I have the snow peak titanium.

I have titanium only because we needed one to pattern a pouch around and REI didn't have the less expensive steel one. Its very nice and light though.

I googled nalgene cup and here is one I came up with:

http://www.campingsurvival.com/alpinemug.html

I was googling titanium nalgene cup and found this one for under six bucks. http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___25001?CS_003=2476481&CS_010=25001 I have not seen it but I paid 35 or so for the ones we have and you could get 6 of these for the price of one.

Once you have your bottle and cup we make a pouch that will hold them both together and also has slots inside to hold spoons, forks or your super high speed titanium sporks. available here: http://www.tacticalresponsegear.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=3428

Great info.  Never came across the "Alpine Cup".

I'm not sure why I bypassed the better price (including shipping) at Campmor!?!?

 ???

Thanks!

Here's another option as well.

http://www.trailspace.com/gear/gsi/glacier-stainless-steel-bottle-cup/review/12435/

I used this one quite a bit over butane stoves, buddy burners, coals, you name it.

Ah...the Nalgene botlle nesting cup...BRILLIANT!!

Edit:  Just read the article where they said they don't nest any more.  I must have a couple of the older ones, mine nest just fine.
