Elementary TSP VAL Sighting
« on: October 10, 2013, 08:22:29 PM »
Just a few minutes ago, on the TV show Elementary, Sherlock Tracked down a hacktivist. On the hacker's door was a great big TSP VAL Head. I see that head every day, so it took a second to register. LOL

Now, should we go cool or conspiracy?  ;D

So do you think someone with that show listens? Or they're trying to brand us as something bad?

Off the top of my head I wouldn't say that the hacktivist was a bad guy per se; she was hiding a Snowden type character after a leak; so I wan't offended by any kind of inference.

We've discussed the various real life leakers/whistleblowers and there have been those for and against here in the TSPF. Of course it makes me wonder if a set designer on the show might be a TSP listener or a forum member.  ;D

With that said, the leaker ended up killing the hacktivist and was a complete assclown portrayed with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, so at worst the hacktivist with the TSP Val head on her door was just a dupe.

I'll try to get a screen cap when the show pops up on OnDemand to see what the other stickers on the door were. i'll post it if I can get one.

The Val Head seems to be the only real deal logo on the door, so it looks like a cool hat tip to me.

The Skull and Crossbones comes up within a few images on a Google Image search for "Skull Sticker" and is from a simple Adobe Illustrator tutorial.

The Wings at the top looks like a vector clipart piece that I've seen.

The Peace Symbol looks like something that could be knocked together in about 30 seconds in Illustrator.

I can't find that "Griggle" graffiti on a quick Googling.

Well, dang!  That does look like the exact TSP logo head -- but what I can't remember is whether that logo was created specifically for Jack, or whether it's generic clip-art.

Well heck, I didn't even notice that last night. But then I was reading a magazine while it was one. The show is kinda hit or miss for me. I'm not a "Baker Street Irregular" but I am a big fan and have read the entire collection and some modern stuff (The 7% Solution, etc...) since I was a kid.

I'll have to start paying more attention now. :)

So is Jack going to be rich now?  Seems like copyright infringement pays out big......   ::)  :happydance:

TV and Film production gets wide latitude in what they can show without it being any kind of copyright or intellectual property issue. In fact, a business usually has to pay in some way if they want to be so predominantly featured, even for a few seconds. Usually a production company will ask if another company wants their logo shown in return for "Promotional Considerations".

About the only way it would have been some kind of infringement is if the VAL head had been shown and another name had been attached as if it were a logo image for that fictional company.

Jack, as for Lucy Lu, this is one of the times I must disagree with with you. I like her....I think it's the freckles...  8)
