NOTE– One thing I left out of the video is that that protective film I mentioned is on the bottom as well. I left mine that way, no real need to worry about it in my view. BUT there is a piece of tape on the bottom covering the intake fins and that MUST be removed so that air can flow into the heating element.
Today’s Item of the Day is from Vevor, it is their VEVOR Hot Box Food Warmer in size 25x15x24. (Remember to use code VVPROMO to get 5% off anything you buy from Vevor with my links)
Let’s start out with the fact that unlike a lot of my items of the day this one isn’t for everyone. This is a great item for people that frequently or a few times a year cook a LOT of food for a LOT of people. Essentially it is a high capacity, easily portable, low temperature oven. Temp settings are from 100 to 170 degrees F. Ideal temp for holding warm food is about 130-145 degrees and it will reach that temp range in about 20 minutes from start up, even if fully empty.
Please note this tool is not for cooking, it is a warmer to hold food warm. Though there is an alternate use. That is for doing what is commonly known as the “Texas Cheat” with BBQ ribs, brisket, shoulders, etc. Holding at 150-160 for 10-12 hours will finish those cuts to absolute butter. Ribs likely only need a few hours FWIW.
Otherwise this is the perfect answer for…
Where to put all those side dishes on holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.
Large family parties and gatherings, and it is portable so you can take it to other family members
Tailgating, etc. as long as you have access to 110 power
Small food businesses, catering, small stores, etc. even farmer’s markets if you have power `
There are several sizes of these made by Vevor, but this one is the only one I was really interested in. Why? Efficiency of space. None of the other models would fit a large size aluminum pan, or two small size pans per shelf. This makes no real sense to me as the other sizes waste a ton of space with one small pan but can’t hold more.
This one though can hold 4 of the large standard 21×13 pans. Note it will not fit the “deep” version of those pans, at least not with all four shelves. It could hold say one deep pan and two shallows or two deeps. It can also hold 8 of the small sized pans, or a mix of say 4 small pans and two large.
In other words an absolute crap ton of food. And we have all had moments where we just need more such space. I have a 6 burner Weber gas grill and I can really only hold 2 of the big pans on it and that is not ideal as I can’t really do it with indirect heat. With stacking I can manage 4 of the small pans with indirect heat. Again still not ideal but it gets us by.
Click for Full Sized Image
No more, again 4 large pans or 8 smalls or any combo of them slide into this thing and then I can set a precise temp and it will hold it. On that I did run my Meater 4 probe thermometer system in it. The image to the left was with it set at 150 once the temp was reached and the holding cycle began. It is not unexpected that the bottom tray is hotter but the two top trays showing EXACTLY 150 degrees is pretty amazing.
We live in a high tech age and we expect precision in all things. Well with heat in a box that is not going to happen, the area closest to the heat element is going to be hotter than the top of a box like this. Still this is very precise. Also I tested it empty, as I am not cooking for 40 people or more in the next few months, I just didn’t have warm food to put in it.
This item will preform a lot better when full with a thermal mass just as a deep freeze preforms better full than empty and holds its temp with less energy, so will a low temp oven. And again food placed in a warmer should be warm when it goes in.
Next up is how portable this is. Now it does have a sizable foot print but should easily fit in the back seat of any car and inside many trunks. But this thing is not what I would call heavy. While the shell is stainless steel the frame is aluminum, keeping weight down. Any adult can easily pick this up and carry it with no assistance. Specified weight is 47 pounds and I personally think that is a shipping weight including all the packaging, etc. In any event I had no issues carrying it.
Lastly I want to point out the heating element in this product is really awesome. I had expected that it would be a simple heating element, basically a single stove burner with a thermostat at the top and work with a simple on off function. This is why I didn’t expect the amazing temp control and consistency as such heating elements as they get VERY hot, push fast then completely shut off and cycle again.
The heating element in the VEVOR Hot Box Food Warmer uses what is known as a PTC heater, PTC stands for positive temperature coefficient. It is made of ceramic and functions like a semi conductor. The basics are as it gets hotter it allows less power to pass though it. This allows for precise temp control compared to a standard stove style element anyway. More it actually uses LESS power as it gets warmer. What? Yep in the video you can actually watch the watts drawn on my Kill-O-Watt meter drop as the temps climb. The big deal here though is it holds a precise temp with a very efficient use of power.
Now I do want to tell you that when you first plug it in, it will jump to right at 1000 watts, then soon drop into the 800s and will continue to fall from there. So just think of it about like a start up surge when calculating power usage and other items plugged into a common circuit. Other wise you might find yourself tripping breakers.
So are there any negatives? Well one is a real nit pick but I do wish the thing was perhaps 6 inches taller as it would let you use deeper pans, but that is indeed nit picking. The other is a pain in the butt, but only one time. This thing comes wrapped in that protective film that many stainless steel appliances have on them. And it is put on the steel before the product is assembled and thus wraps around the back of the panels.
To deal with this take a sharp knife and cut the plastic right inside the seems, then remove and you won’t see the underside that remains and it will peel cleanly from the lines. I also learned that if you heat the film a bit that it will peel much easier, so even if you don’t want one of these you may want to watch the video at the end for that tip alone, I explain how to do it. We all have to deal with this film crap time to time.
Otherwise for just under 300 bucks I can’t think of a more efficient way to keep a ton of food at serving temps without over cooking it. One more nice feature is that there is a small steel cup in the bottom, filling this with water keeps humidity up so you don’t dry out your food. Vevor pretty much thought of everything on this one.
So if you ever have times you want to keep a ton of food warm, not over cook it, not dry it out and not have to constantly check on it, consider picking up the VEVOR Hot Box Food Warmer today. Like I said it is not for everyone but for those that need something like this, it is absolutely perfect.

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.
Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is the Etekcity Lasergrip Digital Laser Temperature Gun. This thing is cool it is basically a very accurate digital thermometer you use by just pointing it at a surface and pulling the trigger. It emits a small red laser dot, you put that dot where you want to know the temperature and just like that you know the temp.
So what can you do with that, oh so much. Here are just a few things you can do with a temp gun.
The other day my buddy and I were working on my new aquaponics system and were wondering how much water the rain tanks were holding off of my barn. Point this thing at it and look for where the temp falls off, there is your water line.
Cooking something that says to saute at say 220 degrees for your pan temp, how exactly do you get that info, well point, pull the trigger and done. Same thing with your grill, find those cool and hotter spots on that grill for cooking and moving food to cooler safe spaces.
Want to know how much cooler that area under shade or shade cloth really is, not just the air temperature but the surface temps where say your live stock is living, point and pull and you know.
How about finding either warm or cool micro climates for planting trees, shrubs, etc on your property. Or how about finding out how successful your micro climates you create on purpose are? For instance the berms we put in our west pasture are on average 20 degrees cooler than the ground surface of the surrounding area, how do we know, with one of these.
What about finding hot or cold loss areas around your house so you can shore up energy losses. As we all know the best ROI on energy isn’t solar panels, it is increasing efficiency of what ever system you have for energy.
Do you know how well your AC is working. Try this take this and point it at your air intake and get a reading. Let your AC run for a few minutes then take a look at the temps on your ACs output vents. The difference in temps is the amount of cooling your AC is currently giving you.
Is your wood burning stove hitting a solid 400-600 degrees for a good efficient burn, are you sure, you could be sure you know.
So how many things in the world do this much for under 30 bucks? Seriously? One word of advice is measure temps at about 1 foot from the surface for best accuracy. That is how the unit is calibrated to work best.
Remember you can always find all of our reviews at TspAz.com
P.S. – This is the Model Number 774. It has a temperature range from -58? ~ 716? There are other models that have a range that goes lower and higher, like the 1022d that sells for about 35 dollars. The 1022d has a range of -58°F ~ 1022°F. It is only about 15 dollars more but I see it this way, 15 bucks is 15 bucks. I have nothing in my life that I will need to measure a temperature over 716 degrees.
In any event if you look at a variety of Etekcity Temp Guns you will see a wide range of prices, it all comes down to the temp range they operate in. So if you can see a need to be able to read 1000 degrees consider another model. If however you see 700 degrees as working for you save the 15 bucks.
Also let me say a word on accuracy of these inexpensive guns. Last summer we had some work done on our HVAC system. The tech had this gun from my old company I used to work for, Fluke. It is 200 dollars and my gun and his were within 1 degree as we tried both on various parts of the house. Fluke’s gear is considered some of the best in the world and this gun is every bit as accurate for a fraction of the price. So keep the 175 bucks in this case!

In the video at the end of this review I cook up some simple chicken thighs to show how great the searing power is and go over some things about this griddle along with general flat top cooking tips. You want check that one out as it is pretty much a short podcast on cooking on a flat top.
Now out of the gate there is a lot to love about this griddle and a few things to know as well to decide if one is right for you. Let’s start out with what I love about it. The cooking surface is spec’d as “iron” in the sales literature, As Vevor is a Chinese company, I think this is a translation issue, I really think it is a carbon steel. Either way you have stainless steal everywhere but the cooking surface, which is great because as you can see in my pictures and video the seasoning came out great on the surface. It is totally stick free and cooks beautifully.
The big thing is that steel is THICK, not 5,000 dollar restaurant griddle thick but close to a half inch. So the trade off there, is that it takes it about 20-25 minutes to get to a good cooking temp of say 200C (about 390F). The other side is it holds that heat like well, one of those really expensive restaurant griddles. So when you drop that chop or steak or burger on it, the sear is insane and you don’t loose much temp.
In the video I talk about that and I do think it is actually carbon steel. In fact it appears to be some form of laminate carbon steel. Take a look at this image of the edge of the bed. The bottom is mostly covered by the welding bead but the top you can see a clear layer of steel that is different from the core. You have to look close as that layer darkened with seasoning, another reason I think it is laminated. Again look closely as the dark seasoned edge blends with the top.
Moving on, while I love my Blackstone 36 inch 4 burner gas griddle one thing it does not really have is precise temp control settings. An electric griddle it does take longer to heat up, but you get precise control when it does. When I checked the bed with a Digital Laser Temperature Gun the center was within 1-2 degrees of the set temperature. On that just real quick, I have read reviews of many griddles complaining “the temperature is not the same everywhere”. Those are special children, that is NOT how griddles work, all have heat zones.
In the case of this one my heat is highest at center and pretty consistent to the left as looked at, to the right side we have a cooler zone this can be seen in the seasoning where that right side is not yet fully black. When seasoning any griddle you should let the way it forms a seasoning give you a mental map of where the hottest and coolest spots of your griddle are. Then you know where to hammer a sear and where to move something getting a bit too hot.
In the images below you can see the griddle surface before it was seasoned and you can see why people think it is stainless in pictures. In the second you can see it near the end of burn off in the first coat of seasoning and see exactly where the hottest and cooler areas are. Again with any griddle when seasoning take note of this for a heat map. Also the bed is coated with an oil that doesn’t smell great when it arrives. Simple soap and water with two clean water rinses took care of that easily.
Okay so let’s talk about who this griddle is perfect for. First at about 125 bucks this this is perfect for the person that wants to add flat top cooking to their world without selling a kidney to buy one. Do not equate this with some cheap ass pancake griddle garbage you can get stupid cheap on Amazon. They do not hold heat and they do not last, and check my video they DO NOT sear like this. This is a true flat top griddle experience for under 150 bucks.
Before I even accepted this item for review from Vevor I watched a lot of reviews of it, some by people with channels dedicated to nothing but griddle cooking. All are happy and several are still happy say a year into ownership, but two even compared it to this almost 300 Dollar Electric Blackstone, both said, “the Blackstone can’t touch the performance of the Vevor”. The reason is simple, the Blackstone just doesn’t have the thermal mass and uses a stupid synthetic non stick coating vs. a carbon steal cooking bed. Sorry Blackstone for 280 bucks DO BETTER and one does not want to have to use stupid plastic utensils when cooking on a friggen flat top! Use metal tools with griddles “This Is The Way”.
The next type of person that will love The Vevor 21 Inch Commercial Griddle is the person who values portability. At 38 pounds it is hoss and with the rubber feet it won’t slide when scrapping a “smash burger” off it but you can easily pick it up and move it. This means you can cook on your counter top inside one night and your back porch the next. You can also take it anywhere you have power like that AirBnB you are driving to on business/vacation or that party at a friend’s place who doesn’t have enough space for all the cooking.
Next it is great for people like me that just on occasion need more cooking surface. I mean once a year I have this big ass party with like 80-90 people here that need feeding. Even with all our other stuff, a commercial stove, a 6 burner grill, an outside stove, a 36 inch griddle, we still on occasion need just a bit more space.
Now lets talk about a few trade offs and some dings that happened in shipping. Again if you have a super thick griddle surface it will take time to heat up, plan on 25 minutes, if for some reason you want to cook at 450ish, plan on more like 30. Look even my 4-burner gas Blackstone takes a solid 15 at least so this just comes with heavy thermal mass.
Next there was some slight damage and I do not blame Vevor for it. The griddle was very well packaged and given the way the a-hole who delivered it treated it, I am surprised that is was this minor. There is a slight dent/crinkle in the back right corner. Funny enough I saw one review with an almost identical dent. I chalk that up to how people carry and drop a 40 pound box.
Just saying with any heavy ass appliance you can expect you may have a ding, if this really bothers you, shop retail outlets and carry your own item home. You can see this minor ding below.
In any event after cooking with it a few times, getting a great seasoning on it, looking at what other flat top enthusiasts have said about it, I just think this is a fantastic value. In fact I will say this for griddles in the 21 inch range, it is the best value currently on the market. So, if you have always wanted to get into the flat top game, but didn’t like the expense of quality griddles or the cheap ass garbage junk options this is for you. If you want portable cooking power that lets you cook high end food anywhere with a power outlet this is for you. And if you just want more cooking space for some occasions, it is also for you.
Note – Vevor does offer larger electric griddles, I expect they are fine but I would also assume they will take a bit longer to heat up. Personally if you wanted to move into the 32-36 inch range, I would go to a gas option. If you are interested in either option they have this 28 inch Electric Model which looks to simply be a larger version of this one for 199. `
They also have this awesome deal on a 36 Inch Gas Model for only 265 which has similar specs to my 400 Dollar Blackstone. I can’t speak for Vevor on that as I have not actually used it. But let’s be honest, griddles are not that complicated to build and based on the one they sent me, they are doing it right. If I didn’t own the Blackstone and wanted a 36 inch griddle today, I’d really consider getting the Vevor Gas model and pocketing the 135 dollar difference.
In any event if you want to start cooking some amazing food and don’t mind simply turning on your griddle about 25 minutes before you start cooking this little guy is for you. They also make smaller model at 14 inches, again it seems like the same model as to materials and build just a bit smaller. It will likely heat a bit faster and will fit better on smaller counter tops. Personally I would buy the 21 inch model as it will handle more food than TWO 12 inch frying pans. But if you do have limited space the little guy may be for you.
In any event I absolutely love working with Vevor, they have been fantastic so far and everything I have selected to review has been awesome. The 21 Inch Commercial Griddle may be one of the best values I have tested from them at this point. So check it out today.

Today Mitchell Earl, CEO of Discover Praxis joins us to discuss how young people can opt out of the college-industrial complex and prioritize real world experience and skills. Along with why this approach has worked well for so many Praxis graduates at a fraction of both the cost and time of college.
I am very excited about today’s show as I have tried to get someone from Discover Praxis on the show quite a few times in the past. I gave up, then they just show up and offer the CEO, I will take the W on that. As you guys know I don’t hate college for some, I hate the concept of college for EVERYONE, it is nonsense and has led to “degree inflation”. We have more people with degrees (per capita and total) then ever. Those degrees are more expensive then ever but have less value to employers then ever at the same time.
We have talked about many other options over the years. Entrepreneurship, trade schools, apprenticeships and bootcamps. Well Praxis is sort of like an apprenticeship and bootcamp combined and then put on steroids. I am very impressed and think you will enjoy our conversation with Mitchell today.
Mitchell Earl is the CEO of Praxis, a career mentorship program that’s helped thousands of entrepreneurial young adults start successful careers without college. He writes regularly about how young adults can take agency over their lives, careers, and money. His work has been read by millions across the globe. He is the host of The Career Bound Podcast, and author of Don’t Do Stuff You Hate.

As I have said many times, we are living in the midst of an empire’s collapse. We have no real way to know how long the collapse and the “danger of a dying beat” will go on. It could be 5-10 years, more likely it will be decades, and it could even be a century. While the last one is unlikely, it is, based on history, possible.
What we do know is the current system is broken and can’t be redeemed. The structure of the system itself will prevent its redemption, something else we know due to history. History also says that what replaces our current situation could be worse or better than where we are now, eventually. There is no way to know.
What we do know is, while our situation (level of technology) is different, it is also the same because, in the end, humans are humans. We know that humans who seek power and obtain it become addicted to the privilege that comes with it and will hold onto it as though their lives depend on it, and sometimes their lives do depend on it.
So, if you choose liberty when others are running for the “safety of tyranny,” what do you have to do in our modern day to most preserve your rights and, above all, your ability to thrive in the face of economic, social, and political decline? That will be our subject for today.

What makes a person less free in our world today when so much is freely available
Money – and the primary expenses of life
Dependence – having a third party control something you need or want access to
Education – being taught from an early age to comply and not to question authority
Regulation – being told you cannot do things or must do things, often with “soft regulation”
False Faith – belief in a system that is not worthy of your faith in justice, equality, etc.
The areas of life you must take control of now to have personal liberty tomorrow
Health – the most expensive need that always becomes more expensive in time
Diet is the most important and most ignored aspect of this
Exercise is necessary as much for mental health as phyical
Get outside often
Money – the primary means of control
The two most expensive things in life for the average person are housing and transportation
Jobs are a means of control, they are not bad but you better understand the dynamic
It isn’t what you know it is who you know is half truth, half lie
It doesn’t matter how much you earn it is what you keep and what you keep that they can’t take
Education – education should be enabling learning it has instead become “good citizen training”
Accept our K-12 and university systems for what they are, both good and bad
You should only pay for an education if you….
Truly need it to get where you are going or are at least helped a great deal by it
Understand exactly what you are getting into, long term
27% of College grads use their degree directly
34% of Collage grads have jobs that do not require degrees
Learn to do as many things as possible and to market your personal brand
The one real hang up with no degree is most people that do the hiring have one
Regulation – the rules both hard and soft that shape our decisions about our lives and futures
First any rule is only as strong as its teeth – many are not rules at all
Next even hard rules are often easy to break, circumvent, etc.
Understand that many of the soft rules only have power due to education and false faith
We do still have a pseudo republic, sometimes even intra state, moving works
False Faith – when you believe there is no problem or that someone else will fix it, you don’t take action
Most of the things we are promised never happen
There is no such thing as “equal justice”, there never will be
Equity is a myth, I can’t play basketball, many could never be a good podcaster
When you accept everything is your responsibility you are compelled to act
There are other issues, access to energy, etc. but if you address the above your will sort those out

Today we cover a variety of events most that show that our societal collapse in not imminent but actually on going. Tune in to hear about the Samurai Wallet take down, a win for property rights and after giving Ukraine 60 billion more dollars the US is signaling the end in Ukraine.
I also cover a new study about global warming that says exactly what I have told you for over 10 years, CO2 can’t be the cause of “global warming”. While we are on Science™ an AI bot just got “fired” from compiling scientific research, I wonder why? Net Neutrality is back, of course we have 27 years of internet history to show it is unnecessary. The Soundcore 2 Is on sale today and gives you 12 watts of sound and an honest to God 24 hour play time on a single charge. I personally own a pair of these and love them. At 40 dollars each they are solid deal and pair of them produce awesome sound. Yet at 30 bucks a piece in my view they are a steal.
I use these in my workshop since it is not wired with AV like my garage is. So you are looking at 40 bucks for one or 80 bucks for a pair. To me at that price a pair is the way to go.
And today they are on sale making a pair only 60 bucks.
Don’t over look that 2X paring! Again for just 60 bucks you can get two and create a true stereo environment with any bluetooth device. Think cheap surround sound with say a laptop playing movies. Or any TV with bluetooth ability. Or think one on each corner of a deck or patio.
Anyone will love this as a gift, and it is the kind of speaker you don’t freak out about taking to public places. I own a 275 dollar Bose speaker, it is fricken awesome, but it is also almost 300 fricken dollars and is not water proof. I am not sitting it on a table at a camp ground! Hell I don’t even trust myself not to forget it and leave it out in the rain when working on the back end of my property.
So how good are the dang things after all that? In short, they are very good. Now they are not shake windows loud but I’ll put it this way. If you are hanging out in a group and chatting with music on, you won’t want it all the way up, it will be too loud. But if you are listening by yourself and do turn it all the way up it can handle the power and still sounds great. The over all sound quality is excellent and one even survived Dorothy driving our Subaru Outback over it. I don’t advise doing that but it does say something that it survived the abuse doesn’t it?
The biggest complaint I have personally had with various bluetooth speakers and other bluetooth devices is syncing. Some sync easily, some are buggy as crap. Every Anker bluetooth device I have used works flawlessly.
My biggest skepticism when I first tested an earlier model of these in late 2018 was the stereo paring. It also works flawlessly and every single time. Once a set “knows each other” you don’t even need to do anything but turn them on. And yes they still will work solo, two is one and one is none anyone?
Every time I bring you Anker items I finish with this, but in a world of cheap electronic crap there is a reason. I have sold literally 10s of thousands of Anker items over the years. I have never had one complaint of a failed or damaged item that Anker did not make right. It is why you guys keep hearing me recommend them. So if you want to up your audio game, check out the Anker Soundcore 2 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker while its on sale.
P.S. – I love Anker so much I have created this link, it always pulls up any and all Anker Products that are on special deals at any given time. Do BE AWARE it also has sponsored non Anker products in it, because that is how Amazon rolls. But it is worth checking this out from time to time. Anker really is the best value electronics brand on the market.
